Late Smt. Rukmini Shyama Raju had always been a strong advocate of education as the most important catalyst for individual and social development. Her dream of imparting education to millions of underprivileged children came true with the establishment of The Rukmini Educational Charitable Trust (RECT), in the year 2002.
The founder Chairman of REVA, Dr. P. Shyama Raju, and all the Trustees at RECT, are renowned for their commitment to higher education and their contribution towards the welfare of our society. Their philanthropic instinct and socially relevant charities have preceded them in all deeds. The trustees come from a strong network of professionals, leaders in their respective fields and members of the Board of Directors at different companies under the DivyaSree Group - one among the leading Real Estate & Infrastructure Companies in South India.
In a record time span of 10 years, The Rukmini Educational Charitable Trust has developed three different campuses with a built up area of around 1,00,000 sq. meters. The REVA Campus of the Trust is one of the largest residential campuses in Karnataka. The green campus spread over 45 acres of lush land hosts about 9000 diploma, graduate, post graduate and doctoral aspirants and provides top notch facility required for their academic, extracurricular and personality development. The campus takes pride in its air conditioned Central Library and Central Computer Center–the most visited location by the University’s curious information seekers.
The hospitable student accommodations at the campus house nearly 2500 students on campus. The campus also has comfortable family accommodation for the Principals, Deans, Residential Medical Officer, along with senior faculty and staff members. A fully furnished guest house provides boarding and lodging facilities to visiting parents and other campus guests.
The REVA Institute of Technology and Management, one of the prestigious institutions of the Trust, received an accreditation by NBA within a record time span of seven years post its inception. The dream realization of Late Smt. Rukmini Shyama Raju reached a new height when in recognition of the quality educational services of RECT and REVA, the Government of Karnataka notified REVA University as a Private University established in Karnataka State under the Government of Karnataka Act no. 80 of the year 2012. The academic year of 213-14 marked the commencement of the University’s noble activities.
